Tennis Box League - wet weather rules

With the autumn and winter conditions now truly upon us, please find below the Tennis Box League wet weather, injury and walkover rules

If it rains before the match starts … . the whole match must be re-scheduled. If cancelling because of the weather, always contact your opponent and get a reply.

If it rains during the match... or court conditions deteriorate either player may decide to call a halt to the match, but the match must still be completed and re-start with the score when play stopped.

If there has been severe weather during the round … the round may, on occasions, be extended by 1 or 2 weeks. However, a round will not be extended if 75% of matches have been played.

If a player retires injured or unwell during a match … he or she loses the match - it cannot be re-played. The player who could have continued (the winner) will receive two points.

If a player retires injured during a round … a walkover, 2 points, will be awarded to the opponents for the remaining fixtures that they could not fulfil – the injured player should contact the organiser and opponents, as soon as possible if they are unlikely to be able to fulfil their matches during the round

If a player does not turn up at the agreed time … or is more than half an hour late, the other player can claim a walkover and receive 2 points, or the match can be re-scheduled.

If time runs out for a match … because the court booking or lights is no longer available - the match should be completed and re-start with the score as it was when play stopped

If the round has ended … players may not normally play their match after the round has ended. However, sometimes a result of a match played within a few days of the deadline will be accepted, if the result does not affect who wins the group (unless it is a head to head, top of the table decider)
