After a strong performance winning 17-5 against David Lloyd Eastbourne, the mens team had a narrow defeat last Friday away at Acorns Copthorne despite good wins for Curt Bean and Andy Norris at 4 and 5. The next match is a home fixture against top of the table Corals on Tuesday 4th December at 7.30pm.

EGTS&R is one of only 6 Sussex clubs who have a team entered in the Ladies League and our ladies have had an excellent start to the season winning both of their opening matches against Crawley and Nutley. With team regular Heather Bean absent this season, Sue Kent is captaining the side with other players including Fiona Mackay, Jenny Wagg and Florence Edwards. The next fixtures are away at Chichester on 27th November and then a home game against West Worthing on Tuesday 11th December.

Andy Norris is organising the handicap tournament which is now posted on both the website and noticeboard. First round matches should be completed by 15th November to keep up with Andy's schedule! Dom Williams has the lowest handicap at -36 so no short games for him.

The new leagues are now posted on both the website and noticeboard with 17 players entered over 4 leagues. Plenty of time to arrange matches before the end date of 20th January. Winners of the last leagues were as follows:

League 1 : Keith Wilson
League 2 : Roger Bean
League 3 : David Sandall

Anyone wishing to join the leagues should contact Dave Croft by email on, or add their name to the sheet on the notice board.

After many many years of organising the racketball leagues Roy Holt has decided to step down and Nick Woodman will now be taking over the responsibility for the leagues. Roy has played a major role in helping introduce and promote racketball within the club and the popularity of the leagues with 25-30 players regularly competing in 4-5 leagues over a 9 week period is a tribute to his enthusiasm for the game. Our thanks to Roy!

The current racketball league runs to 3rd December so now is the time to arrange any outstanding matches. If you want to be included in the next leagues please add your name to the list on the noticeboard.

Squash club nights on Mondays from 7.20pm and Racketball club nights on Thursdays from 6.50pm are both well supported for anyone wanting a social game - open to players of all standards including beginners

Ian Clover and Dave Croft are continuing with Saturday morning training sessions from 9am and people are welcome to drop in through the morning but preferably to start before 10am. They give priority to juniors, but anybody is welcome. The sessions are a mixture of routines, fitness and condition games.
