SOCIAL PLAY
We have added a new social session recently, so here is a quick reminder of the times you can turn up and play without pre-booking -
Wednesday mornings from 9.30am; Wednesday 5pm-7.30pm; Saturday 2-4pm; Sunday 1.30-3.30pm.
Our sessions are popular and a great way to meet and play with people outside of your normal 2’s and 4’s. We try to provide a facilitator for Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon sessions to help them run smoothly and to ensure everyone gets a good game. We are regularly seeing 30+ people.
We need more facilitators and would welcome more volunteers in the rota. You will only be asked to host one session every 5 or so weeks.
CLUB TOURNAMENTS
All tournaments are progressing well and will culminate in Finals Day on Saturday 15th July with a social afterwards, open to all members.
COACHING
Adam Baldwin and his team are introducing some new adult coaching sessions on Thursday mornings – cardio and drills and team - on top of the sessions provide on Friday and Saturday mornings for beginners and intermediates, watch out for Adam’s email.
Junior Tennis Camps will now run in the afternoon 2-5pm 25-27 July and 8-10 August. Please email Adam@egtenniscoaching.com
CLAY
Feedback from players is very positive following the switch from Astro to artificial clay. Please remember to drag the courts after use – the aim is to pull particles in from the edges, not just to make them look pretty. Think snail pattern, working in from the outside edges in a circular motion.
LEAGUE TENNIS
We have had our usual mixed bag of results in the Weald and Sussex leagues. We field 12 teams, and we aim to provide a warm and convivial atmosphere for all visiting teams. Thanks go to all team captains – Kari, Jayne, Sabine, Nicola, Jenny, Daphne, Magne, Chris, Giles, Sion - for their efforts and to all our team players.
AMERICAN TOURNAMENT
Tony Chalwin is running a fun American tournament for 24 people on Saturday 10th June at 2pm (arrive 1.45pm). Please sign up using the list in the clubhouse.
MATCH PRACTICE
It was decided to switch Ladies Match Practice to Tuesdays at 7.30pm, to coincide with Men’s Match Practice.
BUDDY SCHEME
Richard, our Membership Secretary, works tirelessly to encourage new members to the club. We run a buddy system so that new members can be helped while they are new to the club. If you need a buddy or want to be a buddy, just shout!
