Yes, as mentioned in the newsletter, we have evolved and in the spirit of inclusivity are inviting our racket ball playing community to join in the fun.
As per last year we will run 6 teams, each with an overall squad of 8 to support fielding a team of 5. Each team member will have both a squash and racket ball handicap*. Each match will be 3 games – all 3 games to be played – with PAR scoring to 15.
(*Note: complaining to the organizer (or even within earshot of the organizer) about said handicap may result in a change, and not in a good way).
Socialising post-match is of course encouraged and points for pints remains a key part of this event. Each team will be encouraged to come up with an inventive team name to feature on their team t-shirt.
Battle commences at 7.00pm on Monday 02 June taking over all 3 courts for the night and all 6 teams will play EVERY week on a Monday until 23 June (4 weeks), leading up to finals night on Friday 04 July.
If you would like to participate, please look out for the poll which will shortly be posted on the WhatsApp group ‘EG Squash/Racketball’ . If you are not part of this group but wish to register interest, please email me at: verywonkyhouse@hotmail.co.uk
If you cannot commit to the majority of the above dates but wish to support as a floating reserve i.e. potentially fill in for any team that is short, please let me know.
I will advise team captains/team selection once I have confirmed numbers.
Please do get involved – all standards from either sporting discipline are welcome! This has been a popular and well supported event and we’re hoping this year will be no different. Places are likely to go quickly so register your interest asap!
