SUMMER SOCIAL SQUASH - UPDATE

Match report for the 04 September, our last round ahead of the highly anticipated finals night!!

Team 6 secured a convincing win against Team 3, with Matt Gimson playing a cracker to overcome tough opposition from Toby Burton. Dan Murfet worked hard in his 2nd string match, but the handicap gap against Lewis Wilson proved to be too much. Richard Newbatt gathered a crucial 3 match points for Team 3 against Fiona Mackay, and keen not to be penalised again on drinking points, manfully stepped up with a couple of beers. Matt Gimson was voted man of the match – congratulations Matt!

Mike Breen joined Team 4 for the evening, playing against Team 5 and facing off against Thomas Mukasa, who has clearly stepped it up a notch whilst at university (any studying happening, Thomas?!). Karen Millard was chasing down the handicap gap between her and Jacob Burton resulting in a nailbiter at 10-10 in the 3rd, but Jacob secured the win. Hermione Vartan and Florice Cole-Fontayn completed the fixture with some close games, but Hermione gathered the match points for Team 5. Man of the match was Thomas Mukasa – well done Thomas!

Team 6 = 59 points
Team 4 = 54 points
Team 2 = 51 points
Team 1 = 45 points
Team 3 = 36 points
Team 5 = 32 points

As mentioned, Finals Night on 18 September will be teams of 4 , starting at 7.00pm .

This means there are 22 points on the table . It is by no means certain that Team 6 will secure ultimate victory, and we could see a significant change to the final positions on the leaderboard – there is all to play for…

Please note: if 2-2 in matches count back of games/points scored in games will determine the winner. Every point/pint counts!

Heather Bean has very kindly agreed to provide food on the night – Thai Green Curry at £3 per head. If you have not yet responded to my WhatsApp poll and would like to eat, please vote, or let me know by other means by Friday 15 September.
