Dear tennis players,
Well done to those of you who competed in Round Seventeen of the Tennis Doubles Box League.
Despite the stormy weather and the Rugby World Cup, 58 matches were played across 11 leagues.
The next round will start on Monday 20 November, with matches to played over (an extended) 12 weeks, ending on Sunday 17 February.
New pairs wishing to join are very welcome - all levels, there is a league for everyone! - please sign-up on the club noticeboard, or let me know via email, entry closes on Wednesday 15 November - current pairs will be automatically entered into the next round, unless advised otherwise - please let me know ASAP, if you do not wish to continue.
Polite Notice - please only enter if you are willing to arrange and play during the winter period - which will include the possibility of wind, rain, snow, cancellations and evening play, under the floodlights
PREMIER LEAGUE MENS [Winners = Morgan W. & James S.]
Just three matches played, including 2 straight set wins for Morgan and James. Please try and get more matches played in this group next time.
LEAGUE ONE MENS [Winners = Nathaniel C. & Luke T.]
Bouncing back up to the Premier after relegation in the last round. Can you stay in there this time, or maybe even win it? ... we'll see.
LEAGUE TWO MENS [Winners - Chris Self & Trevor W.]
One win and bonus points was enough to finish top of this group. Not the greatest of victories, but enjoy it anyway!
LEAGUE THREE MENS [Winners = Roy H. & David S]
Close group with two pairs both finishing on 4 points. Top place was secured by Roy & David beating Stuart & Toby in the head-to-head clash.
LEAGUE FOUR MENS [Winners = Charlie G. & Andy G.]
No messing around by Charlie & Andy, winning 3 match in straight sets and securing bonus points too ... knowing Charlie, he was probably was messing around actually, but well done anyway.
PREMIER LEAGUE LADIES [Winners = Kari T. & Georgia B.]
Regaining their title back with three wins in straight sets. No bonus points though, must try harder.
LEAGUE ONE LADIES [Winners = Helen M. & Anne W.]
Promotion on their Box League debut. Well done Helen & Anne. Are you ready for the Premier League?
PREMIER LEAGUE MIXED [Winners = Maria R. & Hugo A.R.]
Mother and son pair, Maria & Hugo marched to victory in the top group, with three wins, including a close tie-break decider against Kate & Connor.
LEAGUE ONE MIXED [Winners = Fiona H. & Jacob B.]
Interesting pairing. Fiona & Jacob forming and storming to 3 wins out of 3.
LEAGUE TWO MIXED [Winners = Toby B. & Megan N.]
Seven Box League wins in the row for Toby & Megan. Are you sure you are entering the scores correctly?
LEAGUE THREE MIXED [Winners = N/A]
Only one match played.
