Dear tennis players,
Well done to those of you who competed in Round Sixteen of the Tennis Doubles Box League.
Despite the temptation to visit the beach or have a barbeque, 88 matches were played across 11 leagues.
The next round will start on Monday 11 September, with matches to played over 8 weeks, ending on Sunday 05 November.
New pairs wishing to join are very welcome - all levels, there is a league for everyone! - please sign-up on the club noticeboard, or let me know via email, entry closes on Wednesday 06 September - current pairs will be automatically entered into the next round, unless advised otherwise - please let me know ASAP, if you do not wish to continue.
Polite Notice - please only enter if you are willing to arrange and play during the autumn period - which will include the possibility of rain cancellations and evening play, under the floodlights
PREMIER LEAGUE MENS [Winners = Stephen P. & Lewis W.]
A close top league, with just 1 point separating 3 of the pairs - if only one of the cancelled matches had been played in the last couple of days, the league could have ended differently - arrange your matches earlier then!
LEAGUE ONE MENS [Winners = Ben R. & Christoph R]
With two pairs finishing on 8 points, top place was decided by the head to head battle between Ben & Christoph vs Bryan & Ben
LEAGUE TWO MENS [Winners - Tim B. & Luca B]
Father and son pair, Tim and Luca promoted up to League One, well done!
LEAGUE THREE MENS [Winners = Alan S & Tony C]
Four wins out of four, in straight sets, no messing around.
LEAGUE FOUR MENS [Winners = Dan C & Jacob B]
Debut boys won every match, including a long, epic match tiebreaker victory over Bram and John - good stuff
PREMIER LEAGUE LADIES [Winners = Fiona H & Heather B]
Regaining their title back from Kari & Georgia, four wins out of four for Fiona & Heather - congratulations
LEAGUE ONE LADIES [Winners = Kate S & Rosana S]
Don't celebrate too hard Kate & Rosana, you need to stay fit and focused to complete with the top guys!! - top place secured by bonus points - well done
PREMIER LEAGUE MIXED [Winners = Fiona H & Martin S]
Two titles in a row for Fiona & Martin - close match against Colin & Kari though, who took them to a match tie-break
LEAGUE ONE MIXED [Winners = Maria R & Hugo R]
Mother and son pair Maria & Hugo, took the top place by winning three matches, getting bonus points and a crucial set (1 point) in their only defeat.
LEAGUE TWO MIXED [Winners = Stuart North & Christabel G]
Four wins our of four, but it wasn't easy, with 2 of their matched going to match tie-break - phew, close
LEAGUE THREE MIXED [Winners = Toby B & Megan North]
Another North, heading north, with Megan and Toby winning three of the their matches
