Dear tennis players,
Well done to those of you who competed in Round Eighteen of the Tennis Doubles Box League.
Despite the storms, snow and not the so 'Dry January', 71 matches were played across 11 leagues.
The next round will start on Monday 04 March, with matches to played over 10 weeks, ending on Sunday 12 May. The leagues will then be taking a brief 'break', for the summer tournament matches to be played.
New pairs wishing to join are very welcome - all levels, there is a league for everyone! - please sign-up on the club noticeboard, or let me know via email, entry closes on Wednesday 28 February - current pairs will be automatically entered into the next round, unless advised otherwise - please let me know ASAP, if you do not wish to continue.
PREMIER LEAGUE MENS [Winners = N/A]
Insufficient match played, but well done to youngsters Luke and Nathaniel for their impressive win over (previously young) Morgan and James - wow!
LEAGUE ONE MENS [Winners = Paul F. & John W.]
Back where they belong, 3 wins out of 3 for Paul and John, but there was that one match, where a certain pair gave you guys a very close 1st set ;)
LEAGUE TWO MENS [Winners - Connor B. & John B.]
Impressive round by Connor and John, conceding just 6 games over 3 matches to finish top of the group and promoted up to League One.
LEAGUE THREE MENS [Winners = Chris T. & Elliot B.]
Close group with two pairs both finishing on 8 points. Top place went to Chris and Elliot beating Roy and David in the head-to-head clash.
LEAGUE FOUR MENS [Winners = Sean B. & Dave M.]
Great start to the Box Leagues for new pairing of Sean and Dave, with 3 wins out of wins. Well done guys! It was very close though, with 2 of their matches going to the ten point tie-breaker.
PREMIER LEAGUE LADIES [Winners = Fiona H. & Heather B.]
2 wins and bonus points for Fiona and Heather was enough to take top place. Good effort also by Maria and Caroline for also winning 2 matches, but losing out on the head-to-head.
LEAGUE ONE LADIES [Winners = Jenny N. & Frances W.]
A very good round for Jenny and Frances, with 3 wins out of 3 and bonus points too. Congratulations to Jenny for winning two leagues in this round, also finishing top in Mixed League One.
PREMIER LEAGUE MIXED [Winners = Fiona H. & Andy H.]
Four wins out of four and bonus points for Fiona and Andy, in an exciting top group with over half the matches decided in 10 point tie-breakers.
LEAGUE ONE MIXED [Winners = Jenny N. & Sion E.]
Into the top league! Well done and thank you Jenny for 'carrying me' through those matches and getting us over the line in the epic 10 point deciders.
LEAGUE TWO MIXED [Winners = Mary F. & Charlie G.]
It's up into League One for Mary and Charlie, three wins out of three.
LEAGUE THREE MIXED [Winners = Cecilia T. & Bill T.]
Returning back into League Two. Well done Cecilia & Bill, but can you stay there next time?
