Dear box leagues players
I have set up the new term for the doubles leagues, starting today and ending 29 March. Again quite a puzzle to get the boxes arranged with players. There were quite some pairs who had not played any matches, which I had to remove and a few newcomers (welcome) to add.
I will set up the new singes leagues in two weeks time to keep these out of sink with the doubles leagues. This will prevent courts not being available in the final weeks of the term, with players keen to finish their matches
NEW SCORING RULES
The tennis committee has agreed a new scoring mechanism to encourage matches to be played. For every match played, both pairs will receive one point for attendance, which will be added to the normal match score. (ie for a win 3 points, and for a loss 1 or 2 points). The bonus points for matches played prior to the halfway point will no longer apply.
BOX LEAGUE WHATSAPP COMMUNITY
A whatsapp community is set up for the box leagues some time ago. Within it is a group for each box league to arrange your matches. These groups are self managed, so you need to make sure you are in the correct group, which naturally changes each box league term.
One of my key challenges in setting up the box leagues is keeping track of the many whatsapp messages, emails, text messages etc which I receive with changes from members. There is now a group called ' Ask Bram!' in this Whatsapp community to keep such messages central. Could you please use that group to contact me about anything relating to the box leagues. This removed the risk of me missing anything, and having to fix any oversights.
