Squash Finals Night, match reports and photos.

Hi All.
Just a quick update on our Squash Finals night which took place last Monday evening. Big thanks to the crowd that turned out to support and enjoy the matches, and also to the match markers on the evening Ian Creelman and Leon Harris. (I still need to buy you both a beer!)

The ladies match was contested by Lynn Edwards and the last winner 2019 champion Tracey Webster, (yes that really was the last year we played these tournaments!)

As many of the Men squash players know, Tracey is a skilled and experienced competitor, and despite some great shots from Lynn who has not been back playing squash for long Tracey had more time on the ball and control of the match, winning the two required games to take the Cup back again. Well done Tracey, and thank you Lynn, many people were glad to see you back on court.

In the Men's match between Curt Bean and Giles Cowdell the first game went decisively to Curt as Giles failed to effect his attempts to end rallies with winning shots. However the next three games were played with incredible focus from both players, 10-11, 9-11, and 11-8. In the final game it came down sudden death at 10-10, and Giles just managed to pick off the winning shot maybe not as intended but enough to win through an incredibly tense close match. Well done to Giles who had to dig very deep to get his name on that Cup again since his 2018 win. Curt can be very pleased to have run his opponent to the very edge, and the fact he has taken part in two close finals on the glass-back court this year. An achievement in itself.

Enjoy the Summer.
Andy Norris.
