EGTS&RC Re-opening on 2nd Dec under Tier 2

Dear Member,

We are delighted that we will be able to reopen the Club on Wednesday 2nd December.

This important email lays out the rules that we need each and everyone of you to follow in order to keep yourself safe and those around you.
Please see the attached pdf.

Unfortunately, the Bar must remain closed at this time as we do not serve meals, and we are asking you not to socialise on site before or after play. Please do not bring picnics or alcoholic drinks with you, the idea is that you play and go .

  • SAFE CORRIDOR : we will make a "safe corridor" in the clubhouse. We are asking that only one person is in the safe corridor at any one time. When you arrive at the Club, please wait to fob in through the front door when you can see that the corridor to the back door is free of other people. Likewise, when you have finished playing, wait by the back door and leave via the corridor when you can see that it is free. This means that we are effectively operating a "one in, one out" policy to avoid any unnecessary contact indoors. Please wear a mask at all times indoors.
  • TOILETS : the toilets will be open for your use (and cleaned thoroughly each morning) but please do not come down the stairs into the safe corridor unless it is empty.
  • GAZEBO : the gazebo will be available outside the back door with the doors left open for ventilation purposes. The gazebo is provided for temporary shelter of a small number of people, not for socialising purposes.
  • TENNIS PLAY : Singles and doubles play is permitted. It is essential that all play is pre-booked apart from club sessions. You must not play unless your name is on the daily booking sheet.
  • CLUB TENNIS : we are permitted to facilitate club sessions. A member of the Tennis Committee will keep a record of members attending these sessions and will facilitate safe play. A decision has been made to reduce the length of Wednesday club nights to 5.30-7.30pm. As we can only accommodate 16 people across 4 floodlit courts, it may be necessary to wait outside for periods of time and we would suggest that you wear layers and bring an umbrella if necessary! Saturday club afternoon will run as before 2-4pm.
  • SQUASH PLAY : we have made the difficult decision to close the glass back court due to its proximity with the safe corridor. You are permitted to use courts 1 & 2 and Nick Woodman will issue an email regarding safe play for squash and racketball players.

If you display symptoms or receive a positive C-19 test result, you must ring this number immediately - 077851060570. We have a robust procedure in place to ensure the safety of all members should this situation arise. Please do not come to the Club and play if you feel unwell in any way as you are compromising the health of other members.

There will be plenty of hand sanitisers available on site. Please sanitise your hands before and after play and keep 2 metres away from others at all times.

Should you have any queries, then please contact a member of the General Committee.

Happy tennising and squashing.

Kind regards,

The General Committee
