Hello to all squash and racketball players at EGTS&RC - this newsletter covers the following:

- Return to Play plan
- Club social events - dates for your diary
- New Club Squash / Racketball coach confirmed
- Membership renewals / fee subsidy - we want you back!

We are hopefully getting closer to the return of normal squash / RB and if the Boris roadmap goes according to plan, the stages are likely to be as follows:

12th April - solo practice and household bubbles only - not even “sides” permitted
17th May - the return of the “rule of 6” bubbles - hopefully without the need for “sides”
21st June - target date for return to unrestricted squash / racketball

As soon as Boris (and England Squash) have given us the green light, the Monday squash and Thursday racketball club nights will recommence - so pencil in 21st June and 24th June respectively and let’s make them big return to court evenings!! Confirmation to follow nearer the time as soon as we know something definite.

The bar is open again for evening drinks outside and there are two club social events to put in your diary:

Saturday 3rd July - Summer BBQ in the afternoon / evening
Saturday 24th July - Birthday party / Club social

We are pleased to announce that Giles Cowdell will be taking on the role of Club Coach for both squash and racketball and is working on a coaching programme to include the following:

- One on one coaching
- Mini-squash in primary schools programme - continuing the midweek sessions subsidised by mid Sussex
- New Midweek Junior squash afternoons - squad coaching and/or general play with supervision
- New Saturday morning sessions - for adult starters / improvers with guidance / coaching
- New Autumn / Winter “Tennis to Squash / RB” sessions

Please remember as summer approaches that Adam and Giles are available to offer guidance with “Squash to Tennis” group sessions or one on one coaching as to how to get the ball into play - and then keep it in play - on a tennis court!

2020 was a quiet year for squash and racketball for obvious reasons and we are grateful that so many members remained loyal to the club during this period notwithstanding limited playing opportunities. The squash committee are being proactive about getting squash / RB restarting as soon as possible and encouraging you all to get back on court. As you will have seen the GC have approved a reduction (12 months for the price of 10) for all members for the 2021/22 season but the club will be sympathetic to those non-tennis playing S/RB members who feel they have had a raw deal. Get in touch with the Membership secretary Richard Newbatt if you want to discuss:

We want to see the squash courts filled again as soon as we can - and we need you all back again!
