Peter Parsons 21/07/1932 - 21/07/2022.

Hi All.

It is with great sadness that I share the news with the club that lifetime member Peter Parsons passed away this morning in the early hours on his 90th Birthday.

Peter certainly led a varied life. He served in the RAF living and working in Singapore and Germany, and was father to three daughters twins Alison and Dawn (born in Singapore) and elder daughter the late Kim.
Once back in the UK he played football at a semi professional level and represented Sussex playing Tennis. As many of us fondly remember he played Tennis well into later life.

At the club he was almost solely responsible for coaxing many of the Squash fraternity out onto the Tennis courts, although we all struggled somewhat with some of his line calls! He also starting a small career as an author detailing his experiences of the Tennis fraternity, and somewhere in his book 'Of Course Tennis' our characters all likely get a mention!

He lived his last years in Eastbourne and wrote his second book 'Life of a London Lad 1932 - Yesterday', detailing his journey as an eight year old lad living in London during the blitz, to being an eighty year old lad in retirement in Eastbourne. In the book he described himself as "a totally unknown resident of Eastbourne"! Very apt as he spent most of his time with his daughters or at the club.

His books are a fairly short read, and as some of us know likely shorter than some of his jokes at the bar! There have been many comments on Peter sharing the thoughts of a nice entertaining man, a top bloke and character.

Peter will be sorely missed by all that knew him well, and by his his twin Daughters, three grandsons and one granddaughter.
I will share funeral details as soon as they are confirmed.

RIP our old friend Peter.
